Abstract

Self-assessment of the effectiveness of the ship safety management system is an important tool for assessing the performance and achieving the company's goals regarding the safety of its fleet. This article proposes the basics and organization of the methodology for self-assessment of the effectiveness of a shipping company's safety management system. The main steps and components of the methodology are considered, including the definition of goals and performance criteria, data collection and analysis, evaluation of results and development of an action plan to improve the effectiveness of the safety management system, organization of the self-assessment process, including the involvement of the crew, experts, setting deadlines and distribution of responsibilities. The methodology is a tool that will help systematize the self-assessment process and identify areas for improvement. The results of the study may be useful for shipping companies in improving the safety and efficiency of ship operations. In conclusion, the importance of regular use of the self-assessment methodology to improve efficiency and achieve success in the safety management system is emphasized.
